Peter is an amateur astronomer, was a former Manager of Siding Spring Observatory, and has studied extensively in physics, astronomy, & chemistry. You are welcome to join Peter on a night of observing through the telescopes and learn the wonders of astronomy. |

Night Sky Viewing Through Telescopes Astronomy Presentations catered to your school curriculum. We bring our telescopes to your location, whether it be where you are camping, or your place of accomodation or to your school. Your group can nominate the start time and duration of viewing. Telescopes provided include up to; 11 inch Celestron Goto Telescope 2 x 8 Inch Meade goto Telescopes 8 Inch Newtonoian Reflector 4 Inch Reractor 3 Inch Refractor 40mm H alpha solar refractor telescope (for daytime observing) Peter will give you an expert guide to the sky, teaching you the motion of the stars and planets across the night sky describing and observing the birth, lives and death of stars how to get the most out of your home telescope (better still bring it along) or tips on purchasing your own telescope and answer all your astronomical questions For schools please identify learning outcomes when booking. We will show you live video of the Moon and Planets projected from the telescope. Any Planet visible on that night The Moon and its craters when visible Star Clusters, the constellations Nebulae and galaxies on moonless nights Also the odd satellite and shooting star Celestial Objects visible in March; Planets: Saturn. The Moon Nebulae: The Coal Sack, Orion Nebula, Eta Carina Nebula, Tarantula Nebula, Crab nebula, Ghost of Jupiter Open Clusters: Jewel Box, Pleiades Globular Clusters: Omega Centauri, 47 Tucanae. Galaxies: The Clouds of Magellan, Sombrero, Centaurus A. Comet Lulin DRESS Please dress warmly particularly in the winter months. Temperature of 0 degrees is not uncommon at the time of viewing. So bring some gloves a warm jacket, and a beanie. CLOUDY NIGHTS Of course no viewing can be done on cloudy nights. It maybe possible to shift to the following night subject to availability.
